Annual Container Contest

Location: Seagate Baptist Church (across from the Arboretum)

The Hobby Green House Container Contest: David Barkley will arrive at 7:30 to judge and award ribbons and cash prizes to the winning participants. There will be (5) 1st place, (5) 2nd place and (1) Member Choice award. If you are planning to enter (1) or up to (5) plants please arrive a little earlier than our usual 7:00 o’clock time, so I can register and place them before the judge arrives. These are the categories and rules to participate in the contest:

Members in good standing – 2026 dues paid prior to June 11th – are invited to enter one or more plantings in any or all in the first five categories. (Limit: a total of 5 entries) The sixth category is Member’s Choice.

Categories:

Hanging Basket- must be hanging & in a basket type container.

Single Planting- one type of plant in container

Mixed Planting – more than one type of plant in a container

Edible Planting- Herbs, vegetables, or fruit

Most unusual container- anything able to contain and support plant life.

Member’s Choice – Voted by the members. Each member present gets a total of only one vote for their top choice from all the plants entered. Entry with the most votes wins.

Rules:

Must be planted by person entering.

Must be an established planting.

Must be planted for a minimum of two weeks.

More than one entry per person is allowed, with no more than a total of 5

Judging is done by an impartial non-member.

Entries from previously years may not be reentered this year.
