We are a group of people who are interested in greenhouses (building and maintenance) as well as those who just love plants and gardens in general. Membership in the club spans three NC counties (New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick) and is open to all.
Having a greenhouse is not necessary for membership in the club – just a passion for plants and a love of your garden. Currently, less than half of our members have a greenhouse. We are a very social group of people covering a wide range of ages, interests, and abilities, with plants and gardens being our common interest. We are always happy to welcome people who want to share their interests, expertise, and enthusiasm about all things plants, garden, and greenhouse related.
The club meets once a month, usually at the New Hanover County Arboretum, on the second Tuesday at 7:00 pm. Meetings consist of a guest speaker who speaks on various horticulture topics and refreshments, which are served following the speaker, providing people a chance to be social. Meetings last about 1.5 hours, with the first hour devoted to the speaker and business meeting and the latter part for socializing. In addition to our monthly meetings, we occasionally have a field trip to visit a place of interest. Guests are welcome at all of our activities.
We also host an Annual Greenhouse Tour the first weekend in March, as well as two plants sales throughout the year (April and September), with money raised going towards horticulture scholarships at Cape Fear Community College and Brunswick Community College.
